Adjusting Hydraulic Mountain Bike Brakes
How to adjust hydraulic disc brakes?
I have just bought a mountain bike off the internet which I had to build myself. The problem I have is that the rear disc brake seems to be rubbing on the caliper. The bike is a 2010 Dawes XC 1.8 and the brakes are Quad QHD-6 Tork hydraulic discs. Any help would be much appreciated.
Try the following: first, make sure the axle is evenly seated in the dropouts so the wheel turns true. Now loosen the two mounting bolts that hold the caliper to the mounting lug on the frame. Be sure they are loose enough to allow the caliper to move freely, now have someone hold the brake lever down while you re-tighten the bolts. That should take care of the problem. Keep in mind that with disc brakes there is normally a very slight rub on the rims by the pads.
