Lose Fourteen Pounds (a stone!) in a Month – The Eight Things You Must Know

1. Commence a program of intermittent fasting, starting tomorrow. This will be the single biggest determinant factor in your success. I know from personal experience just how incredibly effective this can be for rapid weight loss, even if you’re trying to lose weight in middle age. If you want to lose a stone in a month, or drop two dress sizes, it can be done quickly and safely by this means if you also use the strategies below.

2. Alcohol. Say goodbye to the booze. It’s a massive source of empty calories, and even a couple of glasses a day will provide additional calories that have to be burned off by other means. Taking one month out of your life away from alcohol won’t do you any harm at all.

3. Aside from alcohol, cut out fizzy drinks. They are laden with sugar – up to five teaspoons full per can. The mantra is “Don’t drink your calories”! Buy yourself a washable water bottle that you can keep topped up with fresh water, and drink plenty of it. Most of us are chronically dehydrated and you’ll find that you experience a huge uplift in the amount of energy you have if you simply switch to water, and drink more. You’ll also find that you sleep so much better.

4. Eat simpler food. As an experiment, just eat stuff with one ingredient. For example chicken, tomatoes, eggs or rice. Doing this plus drinking no alcohol is a detox by another name!

5. Generally speaking with intermittent fasting, if you aren’t fasting, then you can eat whatever you normally would. But, if you want maximum results in minimum time, cut out as much fat and as much sugar from your diet as you can. Remember though that fat is not always the enemy, and that certain fats are essential for health. But for now, trim your steak.

6. Exercise but be moderate. Since I lost over forty pounds using intermittent fasting, I have re-discovered my love of running and mountain biking. However, if rapid weight loss is your goal, stay away from intense training. I’ve found that although you burn calories running or biking – and I frequently burn an indicated one thousand calories on the treadmill – there follows an increased appetite which will undo the good work that you’ve done. If you ever run a marathon you’ll see lots of people who you’d describe as “overweight” – and yet they are also very fit. This is down to the voracious appetite you get after a long run and over-compensating on the calories. So, walk up the stairs rather than take the lift, but no triathlons!

7. Don’t be afraid of hunger. The popular (mis)conception is that if you feel hungry, your metabolism is going into “starvation mode”. The fact is that whilst your metabolism will slow down, it won’t be to any level that will affect the meal that you eat later. If you’re hungry, eat something, but don’t simply eat anything just because you’re hungry.

8. Don’t obsess about meal times. If you don’t like breakfast, skip it. In many cultures breakfast doesn’t exist as a meal, and people will simply drink tea or water until later in the day. These are also cultures where the average person is far slimmer – probably a coincidence there! Don’t get sucked into the “lots of small meals” thing either. This is all very well if you’re a bodybuilder consuming six five-hundred calorie meals a day, but if you’re a woman whose intake is usually 2500 calories per day, then you will end up with six unsatisfying snacks.

If you want to lose a stone in a month, then you have set yourself a very serious goal. But it can be achieved using the steps above. If you want to lose a stone in a month and keep it off afterwards, then make intermittent fasting a part of your life. I have experienced miraculous changes in my weight, and general well-being, since I started last year. You can be slim – not just a bit slimmer in a month’s time – but forever!

About the Author

Once upon a time, there was this construction worker who was in great shape. Then he spent fifteen years working in an office and he turned into a ball of lard. One day, he decided for once and for all, that he was going to be slim again. And lo, he did find a way of losing weight that was simple, effective, and painless. And non-surgical. ‘Cause that’s important. How do I know this? Because I was that construction worker.

I run a site called www.YesYouCanBeSlim.com and there’s tons of information and help. No matter what you’ve tried in the past, I can help you succeed with your weight loss.
