Bleeding Mountain Bike Hydraulic Brakes
How to bleed hydraulic disc brakes on Gt i-drive mountain bike?
I have just brought a Gt i-drive mountain bike year 2005 we think. I want to learn how to bleed the hydraulic brakes. Is there a service manual for this bike I can download or can someone tell me how to do it? Thanks
This is going to depend on what type/brand of brake the bike has. I have a GT Sanction 1.0 09′ and it has Saint hydraulic brakes….so what does yours have. I would recommend that you do not do this yourself if you have Avid or Hayes hydraulic brakes as they take some practice to get right. Even the XT brakes are not a do it yourself undertaking the first time or you will certainly have to have it professionally done and with the proper dot fluid for the specific brand of brake you have or you run the risk of ruining your seals in the piston near the handle. There are several videos on Utube for your specific brake and I would suggest that you google them or look on u tube for your brake brand and watch them. Any service manual that came with your bike likely will do you not much good as it is very likely a general info manual as mine was and not much help. Every brake has specific fluid and get the correct KIT for your specific brake set (didnt I say that already?) The model year and brand of bike are little help in determining what specific brake you have for the rest of us….you need to figure that out buy looking at them, there has to be a name on them!
