Cross Country Mountain Biking Whistler

cross country mountain biking whistler
I am starting DH mountain biking. What should I do?

I have biked all my life. I’ve biked in ravines, over small jumps, down hills and xc. I have downhill mountain biked before at whistler. I did greens and blues off of the chairlift. I also did xc at whistler and I did all blues. The max I’ve done are 3 ft drops. I have used all types of bikes. I think I’d be considered a beginner.

I’ve been told to star with an all mountain bike. Does that sound right for my experience? I’ve used freeride bikes. Anyways, I don’t think cross country really is for me. I don’t feel like spending all that time climbing just to go down. I want to go down fast and big. Could I start just doing downhill or should I start off just doing xc? I’m most likely going to whistler next summer for a camp…
SO should I just start downhill?
What type of bike should I get?
and what kind of gear should I get?

Since you’ve riden a variety of bikes ask your self the questions. Read magazine webzine and forum reviews ask other riders and make a well judged decision on your research.

Good luck.

Oh and ‘Go hard’
