Downhill Mountain Bike Links
Which downhill mountain bike should I buy?
I want to buy a DH mountain bike on craigslist for around $800. I do a bit of uphill riding to get to the trails but i mostly do downhill with a bit of technical stuff. I found a few bikes that look good, so can you tell me what would be the best bike for the kind of riding I do?

I’d definitely pick the Brodie over the Norcos as long as it’s in decent shape. A couple of those norcos are old…like, olde!…and might not be a safe bet as far as frame integrity and lifespan are concerned. That goes for any gravity bike, so buying used you have to be careful and willing to assume some risk.
The Kona is an older model, and I wouldn’t buy it just because the guy put an 8″ fork on it. Bad mojo, especially if he rode it hard with that setup for any length of time. If not, it wouldn’t be a bad choice, but it’s downhill abilities will be a bit limited in comparison.
Buy locally if you can, so you get a chance to inspect the bike before plunking down any money. Most people are honest and above-the-board when they sell their rigs, but you never know. I’ve certainly heard a lot of horror stories.
