downhill mountain biking az
moutain bike problem / issue?

Moved out to AZ a little bit ago. Took bike out a few times and it was great. On one of my last rides i picked up a few thorns. Well AZ is know for this problem and i had 8 to 10 holes per tube. Tires had over 1500 hard miles on them so i upgraded my tires and tubes. Now the problem. After installing new tubes / tires seems the mountain bike is very hard to pedal even in lower gears. It comes and goes. I could easily put on 25 miles before, now after about 5 miles my legs are burning and im getting tired. Checked it out, found my breaks were rubbing on the rims, adjusted that but the problem remains. It does fine on downhill, but a flat or slight climb and i can feel it being much harder than i remember even in lower gears. Oiled everything i can think off. Any idea’s?

Check the air pressure. Lift one wheel at a time off the ground and spin them…. is there any drag or noise? If so where. Check the other wheel. If they are spinning FREELY with little drag then I suspect it may be you. But, have some lift the rear wheel and hand pedal the bike…. it should turn smoothly with not a tremendous amount of effort. Shift gears… still o.k.? Then use the tried and true method before you go to the bike shop…. ask a friend to ride your bike while you ride there’s.

You should have your answer. Repair it, or get you butt off the couch! :-)
