how do i get better at running?

i have to run 2 miles in 16:32 i can run two miles in 18:30 right now. I’ve been mountain biking about 3 days a week for about 2 years now so its not really an endurance problem.i know mountain biking uses different muscles than running does. but i can run 2 miles no problem, the most i’ve ran lately is about 4 miles. i think the problem is that i run like a brick or something and i’m slow. is there anything i can do to get better and faster. i think i’m in pretty good shape i have about a month and a half before i go to basic training. should i change the way i run. any training activities or exercises will help.

Pace your self. and breath at a steady pace. that’s what helps me also if you have a treadmill run on about a 4.00 speed (or work up to it) for about 30 to 45 minutes a day or every other day :)
