Anyone ride a Cannondale Moto?
anyone who sees this ever ride one? the 4 or 5 version, not the carbon version. I can get a brand new ’09 one for $1700 on sale/via discount. Given the stock build on it, do you think that’s a good price? i know the fork/shock is heavy and not the best there is. I know the whole bike is a little heavy for an all mountain (36 pounds?)…i need it for downhill but also to climb. I was also looking at a used 2008 used Giant Reign X1 for $1450, but it looks a tad beat up (it’s from a bike shop at a mountain – people probably piss on those bikes)…but that price isnt bad. Any thoughts? here is the page with the specs of the Moto 5. if any gearheads know about these components i would love to hear thoughts (im not technically well versed)

That’s about $1000 off MSRP. Even on ebay the motos are going for $2600.
I have a Cannondale Prophet and the spec is about the same. I prefer the sram stuff over shimano. Cannondale is still made in the USA and they have a lifetime warranty on the frame, its a no brainer get it!
I wouldn’t ever get a carbon frame unless you are completely sponsored and only at a race. We were 25 hrs into a 35 mile ride on the Monarch Crest Trail (80% downhill) and ran into a guy on a Specialized Enduro with a carbon frame (~$7200) and he had crashed into a pointy rock and disintegrated his down tube. He was trying to tie a stick onto the frame with his inter tube to try and at least coast down the rest of the way. With an Al frame he would have a dent, picked up his bike and rode on.
