Mountain Bike Aluminum Rims
Whats the best product or technique to use to get rust off aluminum bike rims?
We got a bike given to us by some friends, they bought the bike brand new last year. Its a mountain bike. Its a very nice bike, however they left it outside the entire winter in Minnesota. So the rims are rusted and some of the screws and joints. I want to take the rust off. What is the safest, yet most effective product? I heard Whink works wonders on household stuff like tubs and sinks. Does it work in this case too?

Yes the bike will be stored in the Garage from now on. It was boughten by some friends that were foreign and lived in a small apartment. They had no other place to store it except the patio they tried to cover it but I think that made it worse. Now they are moving back home and cant take it with them.
First of all, Aluminum shouldn’t rust. Only steel will rust. For that, use a product called Naval Jelly, at your hardware store.
