how do you shift gears on a 10 speed road bike with a drop handle?
So, I just bought a bike as my future transportation around and I’m just confused about road bikes and shifting because honestly, the only bike I had that had gears was my mountain bike when I was 10. I have been looking online about the changing of the shifts and all I can find are articles and videos about the proper level of gears. I just wanted to know how do you change the shifts on my bike.
here’s a picture of the bike handle.
There does not appear to be any shifters on the bars, so I guess they are on the frame, probably on the down-tube (the one from the bottom of the steering head to the bottom bracket).
There is usually one on the right for the rear gears, and one on the left for the chain-wheels. That’s the set up that was common in the UK, they may be different where you are.
These types of changers are usually not indexed, so you just move them enough to change to the gear you want.
