Mountain Bike Bmc
I need you advice! What bike should I get for racing under $1600?
OK, I am a High School Student and am looking to move from mountain biking to road racing with my local cycling club. I would also be doing alot of group rides. I need a dependable bike with somewhat racing geometry (similar to Cannondale Synapse).
I am also thinking about building a bike. I got my eyes on that BMC Streetfire SSX frame ($798).

Yes training is important. I know that. But I can’t race without a road bike!
Training is much more important than the bike. Any road bike with decent components that weighs less than 20 pounds will do as long as it fits you well.
At 20 mph, 95% of your output is spent overcoming wind resistance. Weight is just not that critical at your level of cycling.
That being said, you’d have a lot of fun building up a frame, so go for it.
