Mountain Bike City Slicks
My bike has got slower?
i bought a new mountain bike a few weeks back, with chunky off road tyres on it, i replaced them with some city slicks last night and expected to shave minutes off my daily commute to work. But instead of going faster and not feeling as tired when i got to work it took me longer! it felt really heavy and i even got off my bike to check if the disk brakes were rubbing and they weren’t.
what do you think could be causing this. Something to do with the rear wheels gears maybe?
Tyre pressure is one possibility. The harder the better for speed – pump them up to the max allowed. Also check they are not rubbing on the frame anywhere or, if you use mud guards, catching them.
I ride an old touring bike with fairly narrow high pressure tyres and drop bars and expect to whup any mountain bike
