Mountain Bike Diamondback Response Sport
’0Mountain Bikes:Raleigh Mojave Vs. Diamondback Response Sport ?
Trying to narrow down a good beginners bike for trails and mountain bikeing with jumps lower then 3ft.(probably much lower) I’m a beginner, 5’7′ and 140lbs. I used to ride BMX so I know a lil about bikes but not too much about MB. I don’t want to get stuck with overpriced junk.
Check out the speks and prices and tell me what you think. There is also links to pages with pic and more detailed specs.
***The Mojave = Shimano Deorev shifters & derailleurs, and RockShox Tora 289 100mm-travel fork.
***The Response = SRAM X-5 shifter & derailleurs, and Marzocchi MZ Comp, 120mm-travel fork.

Thanks much!!
PEACE!
Although it is conceivably a tossup since both bikes are made for Raleigh and use the same frame, and although I typically prefer SRAM drivetrains, the edge goes to the Raleigh. The turning point is the shifters… the weakest link in the entire SRAM line is the X-5 shifters (although the derailleurs are great).
Almost the entire Cannondale line is made in the same factory as both the Raleigh AND the Diamondback… I’ve seen this with my own eyes… brands no longer matter.

Diamondback 2012 Response Comp Mountain Bike (Black) What does your dream bike look like? Does it have a butted aluminum frame? A Suntour 100mm travel fork that allows you to lock it out with a push of a button? How about a Shimano Alivio crank and shifters and a Deore rear derailleur? Are Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors popping into your head? If you have answered yes to these questions then look no further… |
