Cat peed on my mountain biking shoes?
Hello. My cat decided the best place to urinate in the entire house would be on my $150 mountain biking shoes. The shoes smell so putrid I cannot breathe with them near me. I tried washing them in the washer using regular detergent, hot water cycle. Took them out and they still reeked like urine.
The shoes are grey/black, I would use bleach to finally rid them of the smell I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE COLOR, if the bleach ruined the color that would be fine. The reason I am not using bleach is because someone told me the bleach would deteriorate the fabric and basically destroy the shoe? I am not so sure about that one but I don’t want to take chances.
How do I get this cat pee scent out of my shoes!?
Cat pee is tricky. You need an enzymatic cleaner to break it up and dissolve the smell. I am a fan of Nature’s Miracle. It got cat pee smell out of my carpet and my leather coat. You can get it online or at Petsmart or similar places.
I would also find out why your cat peed on the shoes so s/he doesn’t do it again. It could be medical/behavioral/territorial/etc.
