Mountain Bike Frames Carbon Fiber
The new LOOK mtb is out, CF much better than ALU ?
According to the product manager at LOOK cycles in France,
carbon fibre frames are as strong as ALU frames today.
Of course he would say that as LOOK’s new mountain bike is all CF. How true is this fact ?
Carbon done right is very strong. However it has its place and all though its used on mtn bikes it is my last choice.
Carbon when comparing it to other materials has problems.
When metal frames or parts fail you normally get a warning and can ride back. Every time I have seen some one walking out due to part breakage it was 9 out of 10 times failure of a carbon part.(chains and flats excluded) If your a pro racer or a gram counter go carbon, but if you want reliability over bling say away from it.
