mountain bike gears pop….?

Every time i have to go up hill and i get up off the seat to pedal harder the chain just pops out of its place and i end up fallin on the seat. why does this happen i checked the chain and there is nothing wrong with it. i never cross the chain when changeing gears either. i have a GT Timberline please heeeelp

If it switching gears you need a derailleur adjustment. If it jumping the sprocket you may have a worn chain and gears.
