For home service, keeping the bike clean and lubricating the bike goes a long way. If you have gas shocks, you need to maintain the air sleeves. You need to keep the wipers and seals clean and lubricate the system. If you do not have gas shocks, you still need to keep your shocks clean and smooth. Hydraulic brakes occasionally need bleeding. Your derailleurs may need some adjusting after a while. Cables can also stretch and wear down. Chains stretch and need frequent cleaning and lubing. Chain rings wear down or are occasionally damaged from rock impacts. Some clipless pedals also need maintenance. You also need to keep your bottom bracket clear of dirt and other muck. Always check for anything loose or for damage.
There are many other things to maintain. Develop a good relationship with a quality local bike mechanic. See if the place that you bought your bike can offer discounted service plans.
