How Beach Bikes Are Economical

When you really aren’t into regular sports or gyms, cycling is a great way to get some moderate physical activity. With teenage obesity rates tripling in the last decade, it is obvious how important it is to get regular physical exercise. Apart from the health factor, beach bikes are also great for the environment and your own pocket. The rates of fossil fuels are on the rise daily. Even with cars on hybrid fuel systems, the costs are rather high. But for a quiet time with your family, or when office is a mere few blocks from your home – have you even though of using a cycle instead of driving out in your car? Beach bikes are economical and environmentally friendly. This is why, in beach towns like Miami, where the population is dense, the cops have made bike patrols. In the crowds where thousands collect in the sand and surf, a motorbike or patrol car is also uselessly cumbersome. The cops actually find it easier to navigate the huge crowds using good beach bikes!
When the oil prices soared in 2005, the US bicycle industry reached a peak $6.1 billion. In the following 3 years, these sales were always at an average of about $6 billion with over 52 million units being sold all over the country in 4 years! The market did dip in the recession of 2009, but in 2010, the sales were up again to $5.9 billion. These figures explicitly elaborate how people are finding beach bikes and bicycles a better and more eco-friendly mode of transportation.
Beach bikes aren’t any different from other urban bicycles except for the fact that they are slightly lighter than other bikes to easily ride them on the loose and wet sand. They also have the strength of mountain bikes to ensure that the jagged rocks that outline beaches don’t get the better of the rider. With pollution control a major concern in seafront locations and the economic savings that people make on cycles, bicycles are sold in large numbers in seaside towns and cities of the US.
