Mountain Bike Quick Release Seat

Can I change a fork on my bike?
I have a schwinn ranger 2.6fs mountain bike.
It has a front suspension and I can feel it’s using up my power when going uphill. I only want to change fork to one without suspension? Is it possible? and how much would it cost?

Ignore the guy above me. What he is saying is true in many cases (but they make suspension corrected rigid forks), but this is not an issue as your fork has less than 80mm of travel. Just go to your local bike shop and tell them that you want to go to a rigid fork. Hard to say, but it should cost you somewhere between $20 (My friend found a great deal on a rigid touring fork with canti mounts that has worked well enough) and $100 depending one how much money your LBS wants to make. Just take your bike to the LBS and have them sort it out (I would say just buy a rigid fork online and have them install it for like $5, but I don’t know and I don’t think you know whether or not you have a 1 1/8 thread less steer or a 1 inch threaded steer).
Edit: Ignore him even more. A FS bike like yours (El Cheapo, no offense) will do nothing more bog you down while climbing. Adding a rigid fork will do almost nothing. It’s the frame “suspension” that’s doing you harm. It would be more cost effective just to get a new bike without any suspension of any kind. Most of what the guy above is saying is true, but only for a “real FS”.
