Mountain Bike Runs
Training for a mountain bike race. Any tips for a first timer?
I’ve been an occasional recreational rider for years but this year I signed up for my first race. I have no idea how to train for it. I’ve been doing some spinning at the gym, strength training and a bit of running.
Any tips, good web sites/training programs would be appreciated!
the first thing is your frame of mind, don’t go into it expecting to win, just expect to finish. Second is strength, if you develop your legs with strength training then you will likely do well on climbs. Third, have the right equipment including your bike. Fourth, get out and ride (use ALL of that equipment) give yourself a flat and fix it with a Co2 inflator on the trail, have a chain break on you and FIX it on the trail and so on and so on so when you are actually in that race you know how to do it and you don’t have any surprises! Fifth, Get out and ride!
