Where Do I Ride My Bike – Country Roads, Town Paths Or Off Road Mountain Trails?
For the biking enthusiast, the fun in riding a bike is not just limited to the bike ride itself. There is a lot more to biking than just that. The exercise part is there already. You get a good cardio workout. It is a means of getting from point A to B especially if you live in a crowded city where a bike could easily be the best way to get around. Everybody forgets about the scenery when you ride. For some people that is one of the reasons they ride, to get out there and become one with nature. There are primarily three choices when it comes to riding a bike. You can choose to ride your bike on:-
- Town Paths
- Country Roads
- Off road mountain Trails
Town Paths
Town paths are the smoothest and offer the best biking experience as far as comfortable riding is concerned. If you choose your time well, you shall be treated to clear smooth roads without heavy traffic to disturb your ride. However, you will have to tolerate the dust, grime, dirt and the pollution that is found in urban areas. Some major cities have designated bike trails that make for enjoyable rides through the city. The only down side is that it could be congested at certain times of the day, so bid your time well.
Country Roads
If you want to bike to become one with nature and enjoy its beauty, then you should opt for country road biking. The roads will not be as smooth and as well maintained as town paths. However, the view and the fresh air will definitely compensate any discomfort during the ride. Country roads are best places to bike without any worry about other vehicles. Considering the low rush on such roads, you can really afford to take your eyes off the road to admire the view once in a while. Of course, totally ignoring the road is not the best, always be vigilant and know the right time to take your eyes off the road.
Off Road Mountain Trails
If you are not interested in enjoying nature’s beauty from afar and if you want to take your bike right into the heart of nature, then the best thing to do is to opt for off road mountain biking. Of course, you need a bike that is designed for mountain biking. Mountain biking often takes place on tough and unforgiving terrain. You just cannot take your eyes of the road as even the smallest mistake may send you hurtling downhill.
Instead, you bike when you bike and you relax and enjoy the view when you stop for a rest. Mountain biking is not suitable for amateurs, but practice is doing, so initially go at a slow pace. One should know the basics of biking as well as hiking to enjoy mountain biking. There may be instances where you have to dismount and carry your bike until you reach the trail again. Mountain biking requires proper safety accessories and proper gear. However, the charm in the rugged mountain biking is certainly not present in the other two forms of biking.
Your choice should depend on the type of bike you own, your fitness level and the time available at your disposal. If you live far from any mountain, woods or hiking trail, you may have to take time out to go mountain biking. On the other hand, town or country biking can be done anytime you want.
