i am missing a valve stem cap on my mountain bike. how important it is ?

well i have a mountain bike, a huffy. but the front tire is missing the valve stem cap, the tire has run out of air a little but still kicking. how important is it to have a valve stem cap? where can i buy one? ( i live in texas so please somewhere in texas) and can i ride by bike without it?
