What are good/durable mountain bike brands?

I have been to some local bike shops but they are too expensive, so I am trying to buy the bike online (comes about 40% cheaper; I looked up one brand)

My question is, what are some good durable brand that I can google, search, then buy online?

I am not looking for cheap quality but a bike at the shop costs $380 + tax while i found it for $200 + tax online.

Thanks in advance

Most bikes (something like 80% of all bikes) are made in Taiwan in one of 3 factorys. That means that no matter what brand of bicycle you buy, you may be getting the same frame. The main difference between manufacturers is the geometry (the sizing). A good bike shop will help you find the bike that fits you the best.
Remember, when you buy a bike in a bike shop you are forging a relationship! A shop will usually offer service with the bike that they sell you. In addition to selling you a proffessionally assembled bike, you are going to get tune-ups. Some shops offer 30 days service, some offer up to 1 year.
If you buy your bike on-line you could pay up to $90 to have the bike assembled, and around $25 for a tune-up. I new bike will need a minimum of 2 tune-ups in the first year. A new bike will need cable adjustments and wheel truing (as things get settled and seated). Your $180 saving could evaporate very quickly. And, don’t forget you will have to pay shipping on a bike you buy on-line (this could be $50 to $80).
