Mountain Biking Cumberland
is Cumberland MD an enjoyable place to live?
I’m 39, my wife is 37, and my girl is 2. I love the mountains and forests in general, for hiking, biking, snowboarding, etc, and i love working out at a gym and eating well. I also like hanging out downtown in small cities. also, are there plenty of stores for all needs nearby? good place to raise a kid?
In my opinion Cumberland is a former small city, now more like what you would call a very large town. The downtown area is quite nice. The former ‘main street’ has been turned into a pedestrian mall where there are lots of public activities in the summer. Look at www.city-data.com for a detailed statistical profile of Cumberland. The town used to be twice the size it is now and had a large brewery, a tire plant and many other industries to support it’s economy. If I were in your position and had career skills marketable in the area I would say go for it. I visit Cumberland as often as I can. By the way it’s unusual in that there are not many foreigners around and the population is over 90% white.
