What are the best places in New York City to buy a used bicycle?
I used to bike everywhere. I did some long distance biking 10 years ago. But my last bike was stolen 4 years ago and I haven’t had one since. Need to get a new one. My preference is for something with gears. Not sure if I should get a road bike or a mountain bike. Would like to spend $1,000 or less.
I’ve never looked for a bike here, recycleabicycle, but it seems like a good idea or a good place to find a used bike. and the $ goes to helping charity. the only comment I heard about this place was that the bikes can be somewhat expensive for used bikes, i don’t know if this true or not, it’s just a posting i read. i live in NJ and have been searching for a bike, i found a old panasonic from a friend though it’s a women’s bike, everything runs fine. I’ve looked at craiglist actually visited a few bikes, a vintage i mean vintage bianchi campgnalo that was being sold for $300, which needed lots of reconditioning, i’ve tried ebay, but a used early 2000 trek 1000 goes for the lowest i’ve seen, $385. i’m wary to buy a new bike, since almost everyone i know whose had a really nice one had them stolen.
