The Definitive Guide to Morzine-Avoriaz Summer Season

Morzine is an archetypal ski resort, however after the snow has melted it still has a great appeal for tourists due to its plentiful of summer alpine activities. This can largely be attributed to its location in the Northern Alps, which ensures abundant snowfall in the winter and lush, verdant vegetation in the summer. The stunning views are accentuated in every season by the extremities of the weather conditions.

Since the town has approximately 3000 residents it has been designed to have an all year round appeal. After a brief break in May, the lifts and local amenities re-open in June, July and August for the eager mountain bikers, hill walkers, golfers, horse riders, fishers and cavers who flock to enjoy temperatures of approximately 32°C. As well as 650km of interlinked footpaths and trails, Morzine is a lively town with innumerable charming cafés, bars, restaurants, and boutique shops.

As the temperature heats up, so do the vast lakes, providing exhilarating activities such as hydro speeding, canyoning, water skiing, wake boarding and even the opportunity to swim in mountain lakes.

Just as in winter, there are numerous activities suitable for thrill seekers, with mountain biking being the most popular pursuit. The down hill racing tracks are especially popular but for the more faint hearted there are also gentle rides around town and leisurely mountain routes.

The summer season has also hosted numerous sporting events including the Mountain Bike World Championships, Mont Blanc Rally and the Tour de France which will return to Morzine-Avoriaz on 11th – 13th July 2010 for stages 8 and 9.

If you’re not an adrenaline junkie and prefer a more relaxed holiday, Morzine also caters for you. It has eleven tennis courts, an Olympic size swimming pool, an ice rink, two golf courses, summer tobogganing and there’s even an aqua park nearby.

Morzine truly offers exciting experiences and a warm welcome to visitors of every age, ability and interest including individuals, families, large groups and couples.

rudechalets™ have self-catered summer chalets at the heart of the local facilities which also provide easy access to lifts. If you’re seeking an extreme adventure holiday, a relaxing family summer holiday, a romantic break or a solo jaunt in picturesque surroundings book into their morzine accommodation to make the most of your well deserved summer holiday.
