Bike Expert Please Help!?

Hi, i just bought a Kranked Silver Mountain Bike, my first decent bike, compared to my regular 80$ Sportek Bikes. But im worried i might break it cause the chain falls off alot, its brand new and only happens when im in high gear, could it be that the chain is too loose?.
Also, my diskbreak pads are lightly touching the disk, so there is a rubbing noise, and some resistance through te tires, i tried tightening and loosing them but then the breaks are very weak and takes longer to stop the bike. How can i fix both of these problems?
thank you in advance

You may want to try adjusting the derailing mech. on the real wheel. When making the transition from one gear to another, the change ought be smooth and not all that noisy. When pedaling, the sound your bike makes ought be smooth and not all that loud. I reccomend using a bike stand to check for the plumb of the tires on your bike and adjusting the derailure assemblies. Consult your manual on how to do this properly.
The brake assembly may need to be adjusted to prevent the pad from rubbing. Check for a warped disc as well. Depending on the arrangement of your brake assembly, you may want to take it to a shop for adjusting. If you have a friend who knows a lot about bikes, sek him / her to take a look and give thier opinion.
The more you learn how to do yourself the more you will save on repairs at the shop.
