Mountain Biking Long Island Trails
Biking on Long Island?
I’m looking for a good nature trail to go biking. I’m not a pro mountain-biker or anything, but I’m looking for a nice place where I can get a good workout on my bike and maybe a leisurely ride. Something near the Hempstead/Mineola/ Garden City area preferably!
Go to Stillwell Woods Park in Syosset!
It has a great network of unpaved trails of various difficulty, no permit required. Make sure you put on lots of bug repellent though, and be prepared to put in some maintenance work on your bike afterwards because you are going to get a lot of sand in the gears riding those unpaved trails.
The parking lot is on the east side of Southwoods Road opposite the Syosset high school campus. Go north on Southwoods Road from Jericho Turnpike. You can’t miss it.
