Should I move to South Lake Tahoe?

A good friend of mine offered to let me move in with him in Lake Tahoe. I currently live in Ohio but I spent several months in Southern California right after high school. I am currently 28 and don’t really have anything tying me down. If anyone knows what it’s like out there and could give me some input, I’d greatly appreciate it. It sounds like a great idea but I don’t want to be too impulsive as this is a pretty huge decision. Also, I mountain bike and snowboard.

Tahoe is nothing like either Ohio or Socal. You are near a large, deep, *cold* mountain lake, 6,500 feet up. Nice summers, cold, snowy winters. Sometimes the winter storms are unbelievably brutal. The entire area might have 25,000 people around. Lot’s of outdoor activities. 4WD and/or chains required much of the time. A lot of casino jobs nearby in Nevada. I gave you the Wikipedia page on Lake Tahoe below, which links to other local subjects.

Personally I would give it a shot, but be sure to move in the summer, and be prepared for the winter.
