Mountain Biking Westchester
PLEASE HELP QUESTION ABOUT MOUNTAIN BIKE FROM BIKE SHOP?
today i went to downcycles shop in westchester and i tested a bike that i was interested in getting. i think it was a KHS Alite 150. so after a few minutes of riding it the chain broke. the guy said it was only a weak link that he would’ve repaired but had his family calling non stop cuz unfortunately his brother died and all that so we’re going tomorrow to see if i can get it. i was wondering if there should be anything i should worry about and also he said he would bring the price down from about $350.00 to $325.00 and i was thinking of getting the mongoose tyax sport which is $390.00 and maybe he could bring it down to $350.00 or something
another thing is that it had a disc brake on the front ONLY but it was weird cuz i felt as if the V- brake worked a little better so which one is better? i would think the disc brake is…

Find a different shop. If a chain breaks after a few minutes of riding, every part on the bike is suspect, since chains are put on at the factory, the rest of the parts on the bike were probably poorly installed. The reason for the disc brake only in the front is that the front brake does about 2/3 of your braking so it makes sense to have a better brake in front, but it is obviously a cost cutting issue for the bike maker. If they cut costs on something so easy to see, they will be doing the same things on things you can’t see
