Replacing Mountain Bike Spokes

Replacing mountain bike hub – can I use the same spokes?
I’m getting a new hub, upgrading from a 9mm QR hub to a 20mm thru axle hub. Can I use the same spokes, nipples, and actual rim with the new hub and build up a solid wheel?
Pretty sure 9mm QR hubs are 100mm spacing while 20mm hubs are 110mm.
Provided the spokes are long enough, and that you have the same number of spokes in your existing wheel that you’ll have in your new hub, you can possibly reuse them (plus the nipples and rim). But I would not recommend that route, at least not for the spokes and nipples.
You’re looking at significant additional shop labor cost to carefully unlace the existing hub in order to reuse the spokes and nipples. Spokes and nipples are cheap, and just cutting the old spokes to remove the hub–and buying new spokes and nipples–should be less expensive than the shop time to disassemble everything.
You need also to look at the intended use for your new wheel, and verify that the existing parts (minus the hub) are appropriately sturdy for the new use of the wheel. Your question suggests you’re looking to get a bit more “extreme” in your riding, and the components from your existing wheel may not be sturdy enough for your new riding style. Check the wheel specs for new bikes built for the kind of riding you’ll be doing.
