Mountain Bike Shifter Adjustment

Road bike assembly Question?

—How much does it cost to get a road bike assembled at shop ?

I got a quote from a store that charges $60 and it will take them 5 days to do it.
—Does it usually take that long to assemble ?

But I might not want to spend $60..

The bike itself only cost $160 at amazon. I wondering if it is worth the money getting it done there.
I am planning to have the bike only for a year to commute to campus. I have never done bike assembly, but I want to learn & try somehow.
But probably I will have some stuff adjusted later on .. like the brakes & or the “mountain bike TWIST shifter” on this 160$ “Road bike”.. ;-(

—So what is your suggestion ? Should I have the bike shop assemble the bike (completely adjusted) for $60 ?

—Or should I assemble them & get them adjusted (brakes & deraileur) later on bike shope ?
—-how much does it cost to do brakes and deraileur adjustment typically ?

Thanks and keep riding!

No, it will not take them all 5 days. But, consider what time of year it is. They are most likely backed up with work a good 4 to 5 days. A shop about 5 miles from my house is currently backed up two weeks!

I’d say go ahead & assemble as much as you can & feel safe doing. There are many great articles & videos on the Internet describing how to adjust brakes and a derailleur. All you need do is use Google. See link below… Just take your time & don’t get in a rush or flustered. If you feel a little confused, take a break & come back to it when you feel calmed down. Once you do it, you’ll say “It’s so easy…a caveman can do it.”
