Mountain Bike Tricks Wheelie
i’m a mountain biker. should i get a bmx?
i’m a student.
and i do XC. also join races.
currently still saving money for wheelset and fork for my mountain bike
suddenly thought of getting myself a bmx too.
if i decide to get a bmx, i will get it after i got my wheelset. but before the fork.
if i get a bmx, this is what i will do.
use mountain bike to
go off-road
road ride
bmx to
play tricks and jumps. probably want to do dirtjump
cycle to market to buy things
if i don’t get a bmx
i will use my mountain bike to
go off-road
road ride
do simple tricks like wheelie and bunny hop
very small jump. not more than 50cm
i’m afraid i will spoil it. its just a XC bike
and also go to market. but i’m afraid that it will get stolen
so what do you think? should i get a bmx?
if i’m getting one, probably will be around $400.
which i could have gotten myself a new fork at $500.
but a good rider can ride well even with lousy fork

please tell me what you think i should do.
If you love bikes as much as I do and as much as you seem to….then get a bmx sometime and give it a try. You can get them much cheaper, and used ones at pawn shops might not be a bad way to see if you like it…..then you can resell it or give it to a kid if you want something nicer.
Any bike is a target for theft no matter how valuable or how well you lock it up….lots of people get absolute cheapie beater bikes for going to the store or coffeeshop. If you have room in your stable, add more horses! Just do what makes you happy and ride the ways you want to ride. It’s that simple. Decide what you want to focus on for right now, make that bike happen, and relax…..there will never be a shortage of bikes or ways to explore riding them. You can move on to the next interest whenever you feel like it.
