Extreme Mountain Biking Backgrounds

Is Surfing Still Considered Cool
There are probably over a thousand sports in the world, sure some of them are quite underground and many wouldn’t think of them as a sport but they still qualify under the official definition? Hold on! So why are some sports perceived differently to others, what makes a sport popular? Is the ease of access? Is football so popular because it can be played by anyone? Id basketball popluar in the U.S for the same reason? Perhaps, but then how to we explain the popularity of sports like formula one?
During this article I’m going to investigate what is behind the prestige and popularity of certain sports? Well we’ll get to that in a minute! In my opinion extreme sports really breathed life into the whole subculture surrounding sports, the music the clothing, the language and the whole image and lifestyle surrounding those sports. Extreme sports encompass anything with a risk factor involved, downhill mountain biking, skiing, snow boarding, lugeing, but what is the most popular?? For me it’s surfing.
Surfing is as much about lifestyle as it is about hopping on a board and larking about in the sea for a while. The surfboards are customized and often decorated garish colourful design that reflect the surfers personality. The image we have of a surfer is that of a tanned, fit, healthy person who hangs on beach all day, relaxing and loving life, the end the end of the day they go home with their backpacks and discuss the waves with their surfer friends.
Many UKers are enthusiastic about watersports, but unfortunately when we try and dip our toes we often end up shivering on a beach in devon soaked through in our Animal clothing soaked head to toe, standing dejected on a rainy beach in Cornwall! There is no harm in trying however and half the fun of surfing is making a fool of yourself as you paddle along a misty becach front
