Mary Ann was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She began her racing career in Tennessee in the mid 1990s and rode for Merlin Metalwork’s based in MA at the time. Equally adept racing on the roads, she competed in the last two HP Women’s Challenge Races, an international stage race showcasing the premier elite women cyclists in the world. Early in her career Mary Ann traveled to several NORBA races before deciding to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant in Spine Surgery.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill where she earned a B.A. degree in English. She later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received her P.A. degree. Mary Ann is certified by the National Committee for Certification of Physician Assistants and has been a Physician Assistant for eight years, the last seven as a member of Boise Orthopedic Clinic in Boise Idaho.

In addition to spending time on her bike, Mary Ann enjoys cross country skiing, Bikram Yoga, running, telemark skiing and hiking in the Boise foothills with her dog Wilson.
