planing on buying a good mountain bike need help?

i am looking at two both treks the first is a 4300 disc break for around 550, the second is a 4500 for around 500. are these descent deals and can these particular models take a decent beating. i will be on trails and some roads i am not into tricks and stuff but am somewhat of an abusive/ungraceful rider.

They should both be great for mountain biking, these bikes are meant for taking a beating. (falling off cliffs, crashing into trees, etc.) i have a Cannondale Disk brake and it hasnt let me down so far
