Trek Mountain Bike Msrp
Trek 4300 non-disc. Do you really pay the MSRP at bike shops?
I am thinking about purchasing the Trek 4300 non-disc mountain bike and they want $529.99 which is the MSRP. I am new to biking and I am not rich. $529.99 is a LOT of money for me to shell out. Is this the norm at bike shops to get the MSRP price or can they usually go lower than that?
Just wondering if I could offer them less or they would think I am a nut job?
Appreciate any info and if anyone owns this particular bike is it WORTH it?
Don’t expect a big discount on the price of the bike. Bikes are sold on a much smaller profit margin than parts and accessories. Trek also only sells their bikes through authorized Trek dealers. You can negotiate small discounts on the price of the bike, or sometimes bigger discounts on other purchases you make when you buy your bike. Don’t forget, the dealer is responsible to deliver you your bike properly assembled and adjusted, take care of warranty issues, and help fit you to your bike. Internet bike sellers don’t do any of these things, that is why bikes cost less online. Quality bikes are not cheap, that also means that they are well made and durable, and sold by responsible retailers. They end up costing you less in the long run.
