Trek Mountain Bike Upgrades
Mountain Bike?
I was recently thinking about getting a ’06 Trek 6700. i went and rode it and saw that unless locked, the rock shox tora fork seems to be a little bit soft. I weigh 250 lbs and the socks were very compressed. Is this normal, or does this mean that the front end has been heavily used. should i look into either a bike with a better front end, or just upgrade that. i love the bike, so if that is pretty normal, i would like to stick with the setup. please let me know, thanks.
It is indeed solo air, so can i just take it to a local bike shop and have them pump up the shocks?
mtbwaky has good advice, except recomending an air fork. Coil is better for us larger riders.
Rock Shox makes good forks, The Tora is a good entry level one. check if it’s air or coil. If it’s coil, you probably need a stiffer spring. If it’s air, then you need a shock pump and put a good pressure.
