Trek Mountain Bike Values

I want to buy a Trek Mountain bike.?

I’m looking to save a little money by going with a 2010 version of the bike as well. I would really like a 4300 Disc. But I have also been looking at the 3900 Disc, or an 820. I did a little research and saw their respective MSRP values, but I know that since it is now 2011 I should be able to buy those bikes at a cheaper price. Can anyone give me an idea on what I should try to pay for the bikes I have listed?
Yea, I saw the prices of the bikes on their site, but I was looking for an actual estimate on the value of the bikes; given that the bike is now a year old. I’m just looking to go to a bike shop knowing the actual prices of these bikes. I know a friend of mine saved somewhere around $100+ bargaining with the shop owner.

If you plan on any REAL off-road adventures – stay away from the 820. This is Trek’s “entry level” mountain bike…really not a mountain bike. Made to ride mostly on the streets & very light trails.

Both the 3900 disc & 4300 disc use a SRAM PG-820 11-32, 8 speed cassette – which is good. But the 4300 Disc has a better front fork with the ‘hydraulic lockout’ feature. It also has alloy pedals vs. nylon platform pedals.

Naturally the 4300 Disc would be the way to go for pure off-road riding – if you can swing the price. If not – go with the 3900 Disc. I would not buy the 820. Not much better than a discount store special.
